It was a decade ago that a coincidence of fate happened to me. I still have a crystal clear memory of what took place. This memory always brings me a great joy, an intense bliss. One of my female friends used to tell me a story about a mysterious man with a happy smile on her face, something akin to elation. I had never expected that one year after hearing her story of that mysterious man, fate would handle me a similar experience. |

U – Medical: Elevating the status of local herbal medicines in I-san at UBU
(I-san is a local dialect which refers to the Northeastern region of Thailand.)
In November 2008, I presented a special interview with Dr. Krisana Kraisintu, the Gypsy Medicine Maker who happily returned a favour to the University of Ubon Rajathanee at http://www.oknation.net/blog/thaithai/2008/11/25/entry-2 Not long after that, I received an email from Dr. Krisana that her projects at UBU have taken off and the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBU has started the production of Thai herbal medicines.

I was once again marveled by the accomplishment and the speed of this remarkable lady. I was surprised..well, you could say …shocked.. and speechless of what to say next. It couldn’t be easy to produce herbal medicines in a few months. Did our ANGEL have a magic wand??? I couldn’t wait to find the answers to my curiosity so I wrote an email to request a meeting with Dr. Krisana while simultaneously prayed that she would agree to meet me sooner than later. I was extremely curious and excited to learn how her projects turned out and what exactly she has achieved. Any herbal medicines that would benefit my health and those of my compatriots? |

I will take out the fish bones for you…..always….Friendship between Sunflower and Sweet pea.
22 August 2007 was the day that I encountered one of the saddest, though, one of the most memorable stories in my life. It was the loveliness of two small children whose friendship for each other and their determination to continue to live in this cruel world that left a lasting imprint on my heart.
At Camillian Social Centre Rayong, an orphanage in Rayong Province in Eastern Thailand, the children were very excited and happy that Auntie Dr. Krisana Krasintu, who invented the generic antiretroviral drugs against HIV/AIDS , came to visit them. She arrived with boxes of colourful and tasty Donuts. She visits Father Giovani, the Director of the Centre and the children on a regular basis. The children are infected with HIV/AIDS, all of whom were abandoned by their parents through death or social stigma. Today, Dr. Krisana was accompanied by Mr. Asoke Mahadhevan, the Editor-in-chief of Reader Digest Magazine and me, Kibangkok. We brought presents and toys for the children. |

A Special Interview: The Gypsy Medicine Maker happily returns a favour to University of Ubon Rajathanee. I wrote an email to Dr. Krisana Kraisintu, the Gypsy medicine maker in September 2008, at a time when she was working on her humanitarian project in one of the African countries to enquire about her and her news. As one of her loyal fans, I was worried to hear that she was ill. When I received her reply, she did not mention anything about her health or her welfare. Her email informed me that as soon as she returned to Thailand, she would find the first opportunity to travel to the University of Ubon Rajathanee (UBU). (Ubon Rajathanee is the biggest province in the Northeastern region of Thailand.) I read her email a few times trying to detect any linkages between Dr. Krisana and UBU, but none presented itself to me, which made me even more curious. So I requested a meeting with Dr. Krisana for a special interview to find out more information that I could relay to her other fans and readers. The date of the interview was set on 8 November 2008. Dr. Krisana kindly allowed me to meet her for this special interview in a coffee shop. I would like to share with you some parts of the conversation that I had with her. |

From China to Africa: A Thai lady whom the Chinese Government designates as its humanitarian pharmacist. A few weeks ago, I toured the bookshops to update myself on the latest best-selling and most read books. Suddenly, my eyes caught on the smiling picture of Dr. Krisana Kraisintu, the Gypsy Medicine Maker, sitting on one of the bookshelves. I immediately rushed to greet her by purchasing her second pocket book and became its proud owner. I wanted to show my support for the great work that Dr. Krisana tirelessly continues to do to make a difference in people’s life. After I finished reading the book, I wrote an email to the email address that Dr. Krisana left for the readers to send her feedbacks. Of course, I would not miss an opportunity to write to her, telling her about my opinions on her latest book and requesting a meeting with her. My goal is to hunt her signature to keep as a souvenir. If anyone does not know how to contact Dr. Krisana, let me tell you that it is best to write an email to her because she spends time traveling like a gypsy all over the African continent to teach Africans to manufacture life-saving medicines. Her lifestyle makes it a challenge for all of us to track and find her….. |
